Hi Cyril,

Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts behind the Tribe product pivot. I have to agree with Stan — your products are always seamless, high quality, and easy to use.

However, while I understand the desire to be closer to the text message metric (90% of texts opened in 3 or less minutes), my initial take is that isn’t quite an apples to apples comparison. Video isn’t as accessible as texts. You can’t open a message with video and audio anywhere — although text messages can be more discreet (e.g. they can be accessed in meetings, classrooms, other quiet (or noisy) places.)

Tribe isn’t just a simple replacement for House Party, Snapchat, or Facebook Live. Tribe is are true competitor to their platforms. All you need is to build up that subscriber and daily user base. You have the team — and you had built an amazing product so quickly!

Look, if I was able to get many of my friends and family members to start using Tribe (this includes teens all the way to a handful of 60+ somethings), the appeal of your product is broad.

My advice (take it or leave it) is that the option to stream live is a great feature, but I think to abandon video messaging and magic words entirely is a mistake. I believe that Tribe has the ability to take video messaging and “digital ubiquity” mainstream and to do it in a huge way.
